Terra cotta repair: New Block project, So. Main St (on the Mall)
October 2005
Returned from Cathedral Stone's 3-day training program on the use of Jahn mortar to repair stone.

Original terra cotta (top photo) shows damage.

This project mainly concerned reproducing a large number of running ornate moldings as well as several large ornamental stones. Scamozzi half-caps were reproduced too. But they preferred repairing this one (left, above) even though its replacement and the half-round column below it were recast.

Repaired terra cotta (bottom photo)

Then they saw the whole facade was wobbly! and rebuilt it, using my concrete castings.
Lower picture also shows egg-and-dart pattern bricks. We recast some, repaired some.

   Giant double-cornered corinthian pilaster capitals.
We made 10 for the Commerce Title Building lobby.
They are thin, light reinforced plaster: easy to handle, impossible to burn.

We made Goliath in one week.
