Here are the 16 new Roman Doric capitals. We assembled each one from four cast sides. Plaster outdoors? It will last forever if rainwater does not run across it. These were flooded with a good water sealer and painted with a thin acrylic. |

One side, plus returns, recast as a pilaster capital
or wall ornament. See Advice page Pilasters are the preferred way to have a column built into a wall. They look like upright rectangular columns. Since their tops are rectangles, they need rectangular half-capitals to look right. They are also common on fireplaces. |
